Our Extra-Curricular Programme is second to none and allows every pupil to flourish as an individual. We believe that activities beyond the classroom are essential to balance the learning in class.
They teach resilience, teamwork and leadership, and are seen by many as a distinguishing feature on a university application form and then on a CV. We typically offer more than clubs and societies every week that provide a wealth of skills, experiences and opportunities to every pupil, as well as a host of sports practices, which change seasonally. The broad extra-curricular programme is age appropriate, meets pupils' needs and is suitable for those with a wide range of abilties and with varied interests.
It promotes the school's values, allows pupils to experience leadership responsibilities and develop related skills. Brass Ensemble is a chamber music ensemble for all brass players, which aims to perform in concerts once or twice each term, including in the set-piece Autumn Concert and Spring Concert in the Boyd Campbell Hall.
Through membership of the ensemble, pupils improve their individual brass playing, their teamwork skills and their ability to play in an ensemble. As the group develops it aims to accomplish increasingly challenging repertoire. Performing once or twice a term at our major concerts, as well as other occasions, pupils gain valuable experience through the playing of challenging repertoire and become better all-round musicians by surrounding themselves with other good musicians.
Exposure to a varied repertoire from the canon of western music and focused rehearsals will be the rewards for pupils during Concert Band. This all-inclusive ensemble performs repertoire from the canon of Western music and includes arrangements of film and popular music in addition to more traditional classical genres.
