Meridian Insurance Requirments. A client of mine has purchased an interest in a brand spanking new Piper Meridian and he wants me to be his pilot. Does anyone know what the usual insurance mandated check out requirements are for this airplane.
I have just shy of TT with multi. I hold a commercial, multi and IR certificate as well as an inactive cfi. I have a small amount of turbine time. I don't know about the insurance requirements but I would like a Pirep on the new ride. Rick Ott wrote: I don't know about the insurance requirements but I would like a Pirep on the new ride.

The main issue is the lack of in type and turbine time. I believe the initial annual sim-based course should be about 10 sim hours. Make sure your broker negotiates down your time-in-type requirements by including the initial course. The airplane has a bit of a bad reputation in insurance circles right now, the loss ratios have been higher than normal so don't be surprised if they slap you with a 25 to 50 hour dual requirement.
I think if you get a decent rate and a 20 hour dual requirement then you are in pretty good shape. A 10 hour dual requirement would be ideal. Nice ride, good luck on the insurance, ypou should do fine with your experience, is that a g? The owner is going to send me to simcom initially. I have a local CFII that has time in a pilatus that might qualify for the additional training and can ride on trips.
I figured there would be a 25 to 50 hr requirement but that is all fine with me as I no nothing about turbines, the G or for that matter operation in the high flight levels above 18K. Problem for me is I have to schedule all this training around my law practice but to get to fly for free is a great incentive. This might sound crazy but I would rather just fly my baron.
