To browse Academia. The purpose of the article is to present and discuss the results of our research conducted in among students aged , studying in the field of Pedagogy. The first part of the article presents the theoretical basis; at first we refer to the sociological approach to the value system, then we indicate the results of selected Polish research, which became the inspiration to initiate our own research. The final part of the paper is devoted to the results obtained by us.
We pay attention to the hierarchy of values among young women, but also to their attitude towards the future as well as the life perspectives outlined by them. In our study we examine the value orientation of the students of Hungarian teacher education.
We consider this subject a very important field of investigation for several reasons. Firstly, university students as a youth sub-stratum can be seen as a reference group for younger age groups primarily for teenagers which intensifies generational influence.
Secondly, the value orientation of students qualified and employed as teachers is manifestly reflected in the educational processes. The trends of introducing and securing quality in education have imposed the need for emphasizing the values that the students acquire at school. We have decided to look this subject closely because students have always been the most obvious indicator for the teacher's success, the parents' success and the school's achievement as a whole. That is why we have started the research about the values which direct the students towards proper functioning and development of their personality.
The future of our society depends on the student's values, acquired during their schooling. The lessons values in the educational process should be adequately adopted and nurtured. The children have a tremendous power of observing and their feelings are deeply rooted.
