If so, why not one dedicated train only for fish? Personally, I run separate trains and let them run free. Doing that, I don't often see the 'no goods to carry' message, especially early game. I completed it all gold checkmarks today. The other thing is on many of my failthroughs I noted the research did me not many favors so I went the backwards route.
I exploited the fact too that if I pause the game and delete alll my tracks, then rebuild with lower cost after I click on the researches, I should net a tidy discount back. You want Concepcion linked in so you double your niter processing. Waiting around for promoters can be tough you know. Double track it to home and Lima, it will be busy. I did a run where I did almost nothing but buy the niter and deliver it lvl 2 to get k growth in Q1 but it hurt to have to get all that log infra later and lag on growth so I chose to focus on it early instead. When you start cloning trains for upped levels of demand is when to do the upgrade for fish corn etc for most other things, a small rural station will manage with it.
