Great review though, Chris, and I think it's right that we question restaurants on their pricing, especially if they don't always deliver on quality. Ouchy wouchy. Cafe Sol Dos on Clapham High Street would do the same dishes, but better, for half what you didn't have to pay! I don't think Chiquitios are exactly going to be quaking in their sombreros either Good on them for inviting you after your comments but they really need to lower those prices.
And well done for being honest. I agree with you about the prices - it is too expensive. Similar to how Pizza East is too expensive but I still love it there and I've worked out how to make my bill cheaper by knowing what to order, because the food is worth it.
You're probably right that the food isn't worth it at Cantina when you can have Daddy D or Chilango for a fiver. However, I think it's a bit harsh, and just shows that you didn't want to like the place going in, to complain about the people greeting you at the front of house. How can this possibly be a bad thing? Hugh: It's on the list! Libby: Simply because I saw the 5 people standing around doing nothing, and I saw the price of the food, and I put two and two together.
Excellent post! Eye watering stuff! A local barman had knicked their menu and showed it to me I guess that is as close as I will get to it or want to get to it!
What a good idea; invite you down,you will be bowled over by the cheery welcome and complimentary Blue Peter style cookery demonstration not forgetting the "delicious" food , you will then rush home to recreate what you have learned, following which you will write a glowing review which due to the fabulous experience made you completely forget the inflated prices.. Ah well back to the drawing board..
