Thank you for visiting our site! At Centered Ground, we provide dialectical behavior therapy DBT and other psychological services supported by research, including cognitive behavior therapy CBT , combining concrete strategies with Eastern philosophies, particularly mindfulness. We welcome you to continue reading if you seek balance and freedom from suffering.
Centered Ground provides adherent DBT for adolescents and adults, including radically open DBT for disorders of overcontrol, such as pervasive, persistent anxiety and mood disorders, social isolation, and restricted eating. DBT is a form of CBT that includes individual therapy, group skills training, and coaching calls through a treatment team of therapists.
Coaching calls assist clients in applying what they are learning in treatment when facing urges and challenging situations between sessions. Skills include distress tolerance, emotion regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, behaviorism, and mindfulness. Mindfulness is about being in the present moment in a nonjudgmental way. We live our lives so much in the past and future, thinking about what has already happened and what we fear will happen, that we miss out on our actual lives, which are occurring right now.
Mindfulness guides us to reconnect to our real lives. Through learning new ways of interacting with your emotions, thoughts, and others in that life, you can truly build a life worth living. Radical openness also integrates self-inquiry for personal growth and promotes flexibility and connection.
In , Centered Ground director Dr. Angela Klein. Dialectics refers to recognizing extremes, allowing them to exist together, and finding the middle path between them. It is about questioning rigid ways of thinking and being, and letting go of judgments and assumptions.
