Calvin P. Carter, 43, of Aurora, was charged Jan. Shortly after a. The man ran out of the house in fear for his safety while Carter went into the basement and approached a woman there, the police report stated.
Officers went into the house through the garage door and talked to the victim and two other residents who are roommates in the house, the report stated. Once he was denied twice, Carter retrieved a kitchen knife, so she got a knife of her own for self-defense if needed, according to the report.
Carter then stood over her while she was seated on a couch, placed the knife on the couch next to her and tried to perform sexual acts on her, according to the police report. After she began screaming, Carter left her, threw the knife on the floor and went back upstairs. The woman told police he did not assault her with the knife, according to the report.
Police collected both knives as evidence, the report stated. Carter is currently being held in the Kane County jail, after prosecutors argued before Associate Judge Julia Yetter that he should be denied pretrial release, records show. Both of the charges are still pending.
Carter served 30 months in prison for the drug charge and 30 months for the aggravated battery to a police officer; two years in prison for the drug charge and two more years for the drug charge, according to the filing.
