Growing up I was both a ballet dancer and highland dancer and I became a qualified teacher in both of these forms of dance and taught for many years. Flexibility and mobility have always been part of my life and it was then a natural progression for me to be involv ed with a diverse range of movement based therapies.
One-on-one assisted stretch therapy sessions consist of predominantly assisted stretch therapy, but I also incorporate all of my skills and knowledge across my collected modalities to help my clients recover from injury, improve pain, reduce tightness and restrictions and move freely. Each session is individualised and therefore each session looks different. Assisted stretch therapy is very different to other therapies. Using this therapy I am able to "unglue" restriction or tightness from deep in your joint capsules, which is an area that cannot be accessed using massage or by "digging in" with the hands and fingers.
In addition, this technique also lengthens and stretches connected lines of tissue - by addressing the whole line of connected tissue we can release tightness or restriction that is in one section of the tissue that may be pulling on the whole connected line and creating tightness or restriction at the other end. It is slowly becoming more popular here in Australia but is still a very new therapy. As with any copycat, they are never the same as the original and for this reason I encourage you to do your research prior to booking with anyone advertising assisted stretch therapy.

Q: How long are your appointments? A: Appointments are 60minutes. Q: Can I use my Private Health? A: No, at this time I am unable to offer a private health fund rebate. Q: How often do I need sessions? A: This also varies from person to person. We may then be able to spread the sessions out a little more and gradually work towards a maintenance program. This is a very general example and I will talk to you more after our first session together about a plan that best suits you.
