This is intended to be a blog which is an inter-action between post and comments. The classic blog was a webmaster making posts and people making comments on that post.
The blogs we are trying for is more a conversation between people. Someone say something posts and others reply comment. It is not necessary that everyone be involved as long as you are talking about Dreux and the times there or, come to think about it, anything that would interest any of us that were there.
There can be different conversations going on. I posted the first post and today realized if you look at the comment block in the lower left corner is a reply icon. This takes you directly to the reply form and when you are done, posts the reply right back to the original comment. While we ask for an email address to post a message, the email address will not show on the website. You do not need to enter a URL unless you have a website.

Being stationed in France back in the day was, indeed, special. My name is Linda Blalock Neil. I was the first born of our family so I was NOT born in Dreux as the Air Base Hospital was not prepared to handle first births in case of complications thus they transported my mom via ambulance, while she was in labor, to La Chapelle, where an Army Base Hospital was located…I was born in in La Chapelle.
The story goes that there was a gas shortage in France, my dad was not allowed to go in the ambulance with my mom to La Chapelle, had no gas in the car due to the shortage, so he asked the Military Police if they could provide him with gas so he could join my mom at the hospital for my birth. They obliged thankfully and he made in time. My dad, Gerald Jerry Blalock, was a 2nd Lt. My parents did not live on base, but rather while waiting for American Housing to be ready in Dreux, they lived in a little French hotel on the Economy.
