This broad policy shift spawns immediate benefits for the country in managing the crisis effectively as well as in making the country resilient to international shocks, whether it is the COVID pandemic or Ukraine war. This study reviews the challenges and opportunities encountered by Qatar because of the blockade imposed by the neighboring countries, namely Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates UAE , Bahrain, and Egypt.
It endeavors to highlight potential scenarios of the crisis. This paper employs a secondary source of information to achieve the objectives, such as books, articles, reports, and academic research, which were later subjected to thematic analysis.
The findings of this research reveal that crisis management was an effective strategy implemented by the Qatari Government. It helped Qatari officials to change and transfer the negative impacts to a positive force. The Future Dynamics in the Gulf project at Chatham House provides in-depth analysis of political, economic and social changes across the Gulf Arab states, informed by local perspectives and new-generation thinking from the region.
Since , Chatham House's work on the Gulf has created space for meaningful dialogue on the dynamics of change in the GCC countries. It brings together regional and European scholars, researchers, policymakers and civil society, to help foster better understanding and new avenues of policy debate and communication.
The pressure that has been exerted on Qatar is not an isolated effort; it is a part of a larger scale planning to shape the future order of the region. It is not a new effort either, as Qatar was targeted with sanctions by the Gulf countries before, lately in An ardent supporter of the anti-status quo movements during the so-called Arab Spring, Qatar drew the ire of some Arab states who have high stakes in the preservation of the regional status quo.
