Our Staff. Brad was one of many community organizers who helped lobby Houston City Council to pass nondiscrimination protections for all Houstonians in Brad served as Political Director of the Houston Unites Campaign to defend the Houston Equal Rights Ordinance, where he managed coalition and political relationships for the campaign.
Prior to joining Equality Texas, they were on the front lines of youth advocacy with Jane's Due Process, raising awareness about Texas' restrictive reproductive laws and ensuring that young people know they are not alone in their fight for healthcare access. Serena's lived experience as an Afro-Latina young person facing barriers to reproductive healthcare has fueled her commitment to bodily autonomy and youth empowerment.
She now serves on the board of Jane's Due Process, continuing her advocacy for reproductive justice. Her advocacy is grounded in her passion for ensuring that marginalized Texans have the access to healthcare, resources, and support they need to thrive.
She collaborates with local organizations like Hoochies of Houston, working to build an inclusive community and foster civic engagement. As the founder of EC for Houston, she leads efforts to aim to provide essential reproductive health resources to the Houston community. In her free time, Serena enjoys reading about physics, expanding her curiosity about the universe, and spending time with her dog, Blu.
Her well-rounded passion for both advocacy and lifelong learning reflects her commitment to making a meaningful impact in our communities. They came to Austin by way of Eureka Springs, Arkansas where they served as the stewardship writer for a non-profit big cat rescue and sanctuary.
