The Adult Program at United Ability offers a variety of services to provide life enrichment activities for individuals with disabili ties. These activities encourage community participation and increase skill levels in activities of daily living. Participants are afforded the opportunity to develop leisure and recreation interests. Training classes are held to provide instruction in social skills and soft skills.
Research tells us that these are the skills that often equip a person to acquire and keep a job. The outcome of this service is sustained paid employment and work experience leading to further career development and community-based individual employment. While in vocational training, participants have the opportunity to volunte er in many nonprofit settings. The skills developed in the vocational area are the soft skills needed to prepare individuals for future employment. Individuals are afforded daily opportunities to dev elop appropriate social skills while participating in small group activities.
