Not feeling good today due to a cold, so I stayed home. I managed to get a little work done in the morning. In the afternoon Kate and Cassie and I felt like getting out of the house, so we drove to Half Moon Bay and walked around downtown for a while, then down to the beach to walk near the water. I went back in to work for a pretty long day today.
Even fewer people in the office, I think. Kate and Cassie and my dad came in for lunch and I showed them around the office. I was surprised to see Justin at lunch. He explained that he wasn't coming in to work but that it was just the closest place to his house to eat! Kate and Cassie were still feeling sick, so they went to the doctor. They were prescribed Tamiflu. It's quiet around the house without Lejna. Leftovers don't disappear instantly from the fridge, either; you have to actually eat them.
My mom made plans to meet some old high school friends at Jack London Square in Oakland. Kate and Cassie were sick, so I drove the other three of us out there. None of us had been there before; I was surprised to find out that Jack London Square isn't a square so much as a neighborhood on Oakland's port. My dad and I walked around the area for a few hours while mom talked to her friends.
The two of us had a great lunch at a hole-in-the-wall Chinese place in Oakland's Chinatown. About , Kate took Lejna to the airport to fly to Croatia to spend a few days with her boyfriend and then to go back home to Sarajevo for a surprise visit to her family.
To preserve the surprise, I'm only able to post this on Dec. We bought chocolate for gifts and drank vin chaud hot wine. We walked across the Tuileries to the Louvre, where we ate lunch at an Italian restaurant. We boarded a bus to Vaux le Vicomte.
