After providing a review of the literature and the status of television advertising, we provide the results of a content analysis dealing with various cultural values used in television advertising in various countries in the Arab world. This article points out that the potential for television advertising is enormous due to the proliferation of satellite television across the Arab world. This study finds that despite the common belief that the Arab world is vastly different from the United States, there are some similarities between the two in television advertising.
We will argue that the situation in advertising there is equally rich, diverse, and complicated. The muslim religion control the Arabic word, including the publicity.
Here, the woman appears when it is usefull for feminine products for example , her body and face is covered at the maximum. Women are, in general, less represented in Arab advertisement. Due to these cultural differences between the Western and the Arabic countries, censorship is put in place by the Arab media so that the image of the woman is in conformity with the Muslim values. Study reveals that the main differences between the United States and the Arab world include cultural values that are embedded in religious values and beliefs.
