Tanztheater is a dance technique that combines elements of ballet and contemporary dance in a dramatic environment. It was developed by iconic choreographer Pina Bausch. Starting with a short game, you will learn to combine technique and improvisation to express a varied range of emotions. This will be followed by exercises to enhance body awareness and musicality accompanied by live music from Thomas Broda. You will have the opportunity to tie everything together with choreography. It is a technical class, encouraging individual expression and a general level of fitness.
Adrian Look is a dance artist and lecturer for Tanztheater based in London. After graduation, he was a soloist in the dance theatre company Tanztheater Bielefeld for three years, followed by two years of freelance projects in Germany, Switzerland and the UK.
Adrian has taught workshops in contemporary dance, ballet, and improvisation for over ten years and has led classes for various professional companies, including Alvin Ailey II, Tanztheater Bielefeld and the Origen Festival in Switzerland.
