Honestly, my dessert at BJ's was one of the highlights of my day. It was a hot cinnamon roll in a cookie pan topped with vanilla ice cream and caramel drizzle! It's ooey-gooey goodness that will satiate a cinnamon roll lover's fantasies. Our party got a nice circular booth that sat 5 of us comfortably with a good view of the bar and center of the restaurant. Our waiter tried his best to check-in on us despite the busy night.
He took our orders fairly quickly. Will I come back? It was both great and terrible at the same time. Let us start with the positive. Now to the negative. First, we accidentally arrived late, and they gave us a minute wait time even though the app said 10 minutes. We called, and the person said, "Well, I texted your number. Did you not get it? The person working as the host didn't realize the text says your table is soon to be ready, not that your table is ready. The host then put our name back in and said, "If you miss this text, then I will have to kick you off the list," in a voice like a parent scolding a child.
Once we got in at PM, it was fine. We ordered our food: a burger and a bread bowl soup. At PM, we got the appetizer and the burger, which I had asked for well done, but it was very pink. At this point, I checked with my server to make sure it wasn't a personal mistake, and the server confirmed it was a mistake from the kitchen and that they would remake it. I also noticed that four other tables were having problems with their foodโfour other tables! This is the fault of the kitchen, not the server.
The manager let the poor server fail at this moment. Instead of helping out, the manager let the server deal with multiple problems, basically neglecting customers. My burger came back out at PM, and they said it took so long because I wanted it well done.
By this point, it had been 40 minutes, and the bread bowl still hadn't arrived. Forty minutes for bread and soup is crazy! I asked the manager, and he said, "Oh, my bad. Sorry, I got it," and ran to the back. It still took them another 10 minutes to get it, and it was cold. By this point, I was just tired of waiting, so we sucked it up and didn't say anything. By the time we were done, it was well over PM, and we were very tired and wanted to go home. The service was great, but the manager and kitchen need to improve their performance, and the manager needs to help out when the servers are having a hard time.
