Task: Living outside, finding water, building a field toilet, building shelters, card and compass work, fire making. I started at Spicheren and moved into jaegers with my girlfriend, as soon as possible we went offpiste to use the card and the compass. First step : go to a markable point close to you, a river, a cliff, a huge rock, a lake,β¦best thing is in my opinion to climb on the top of mountain close to you.
Second step : on the top of the mountain you should try to find other markable points around you and try to find this points on the card.
Also swamps ore totaly dry areas are perfect. Third step : you need to find the north and place youre map into the direction of north. Now you use youre compass and and point with the arrow on it ore with a mirrow. Turn the adjustable knob until the N is on the needle of your compass. Now you lay it onto the map, with the N to the north of your map. The edge of your compass should lay at the markable point on your map. Use a pencil and make a straight line on the edge. Starting at the markable point and ending somewhere on the map.
Now you have somewhere on your map a cross between the two lines. Somewhere around there you should be. But, if you want to be shure, you can use a third point. If you use three points you will get a triangle between three lines.
There you should be. This is really precise. The first night we spend on a mountain in a tarp. For making it more comfortable, we used some tan needles to place them under our sleeping mat to have it more cozy. On the second day we went out very late cause different reasons.
